Every gun inventory app on the market asks you to trust someone else with your most sensitive information: what you own, where you store it, what it's worth, and the serial numbers that identify each piece. We looked at that landscape and asked a different question: what if you didn't have to trust anyone?
Gear Guy was born from that question. We built a zero-knowledge architecture where all data is encrypted on your device with AES-256 before it touches storage. We have no account system, no cloud database, no analytics, and no telemetry. We can't see your data because we designed it so we can't — and we think that's how it should be.
Privacy is a right, not a feature. Your collection data, serial numbers, and storage locations are nobody's business but yours. We built Gear Guy so that even if someone subpoenas us, we have nothing to hand over. That's not a policy — it's a mathematical guarantee enforced by encryption.
Owners deserve better tools. The most common "competitor" to every gun inventory app is a spreadsheet — because owners trust no one with their data. We think you deserve the power of a purpose-built tool with the privacy of a local file.
Accuracy matters. When our identification system says your pistol is an M&P 2.0 Metal Carry Comp, not just an "M&P 2.0," that specificity matters. It's the difference between a $599 valuation and a $900 one. We obsess over variant-level identification because your gear deserves the same precision you put into selecting it.
